The age of lauren and zoe total 30 years. In 5 years, zoe will be 4 years older than double laurens age.

If L=Lauren’s current age, then Zoe is 30-L years old.

Also 30-L+5=2(L+5)+4 where 30-L+5 is Zoe’s age in 5 years’ time and L+5 is Lauren’s age in five years.

So 35-L=2L+14, 3L=21 and L=7, Lauren’s age now (and Zoe is 30-7=23 years old).
