Here we have a long block representing the number 2832. It’s been divided into 8 smaller blocks of equal size. The red line is the halfway position, so it represents half of 2832, which is 1416. The blue line is half again, so it’s half of 1416, which is 708. And, finally, half of 708 is 354. That marks the end of the first block, so it represents an eighth of the long block which is another way of saying 2832/8=354.
