2x+5y=-16,

3x+2y=-2.

Multiply the first equation by 3 and the second equation by -2:

6x+15y=-48,

-6x-4y=4,

and add these together:

11y=-44, y=-4.

So use either equation to find x after substituting for y:

2x-20=-16, 2x=4, x=2.

SOLUTION: x=2, y=-4.
