If g=number of girls, then there are 50-g boys.

50-g boys have 5 toys each, making 5(50-g) toys.

g girls have 3 toys each, making 3g toys.

So 5(50-g)=3g+74,

250-5g=3g+74,

250-74=8g,

176=8g,

22=g, so there are 22 girls.
