Let the numbers be x and y.

Given,

x + y = 10

and x - y = 8

On adding these two equations we get:

2x = 18

or x = 9

Putting the value of x in x + y = 10 we get:

9 + y = 10

or y = 1

So the two numbers are 9 and 1
