The x intercepts are the roots of the quadratic. Using the formula, x=(-7+sqrt(49+100))/10=(-7+sqrt(149))/10=0.52066 and -1.92066 approx. so the U-shaped parabola cuts the x axis at these values. The y intercept is -5 (when x=0).
