4x^2-13x-27 1) note the second sign, a negative, means that the 2 factors (because x's highest power is 2) are 1 positive and 1 negative. 2) the first sign denotes that the O.I. of F.O.I.L. must be largely negative. 3) Find the factors of 4 4) Find the factors of 27 5) Set up brackets [etc. (ax-b)(cx+d), where a and c are the factors of 4 and b and d are the factors of 27] 6) Use F.O.I.L. to verify answer.
