line 1: x+2y=7

line 2: 2x+y=8

multipli line 2 bii -2 & add tu line 1...

[x+2y=7]-[4x-2x=-16]

-3x=(7-16)=-9 or 3x=+9, so x=3

plug this in x+2y=7...2y=7-x=7-x=4

so y=4/2=2
