Problem:

If Stewart won 3 out of 26 races, what are the odds that he will win at least 1 of the next 10 races?

Solution:

The probability of Stewart winning any one race is 3/26

P(wins a race) = 3/26

P(loses a race) = 1 - 3/26

P(loses a race) = 23/26

P(wins at least 1 of the next 10 races) = 1 - P(loses all of the next 10 races)

P(wins at least 1 of the next 10 races) = 1 - (23/26)^10

P(wins at least 1 of the next 10 races) = 0.70654272497

Odds of winning at least 1 of the next 10 races are about 7 out of 10.
