start: 5(2x-7)=33 -3(6x+4)

10x-35-33=-3(6x+4)=-18x-12

(10x+18x) -33=-12

28x=33-12=21

x=21/28=3/4

woops: 28x=35+33-12=68-12=56

x=56/28

x=2

5(2x-7)=33-3(6x+4) First add the 3(6x+4) to each side so the variables are on the same side. 3(6x+4)+5(2x-7)=33 Then, Distribute. (18x+12)+(10x-35)=33 Add Brackets 28x-23=33 Add 23 to both sides. 28x=56 Divide 28 from both sides. x=56/28 Simplify x=2 Don't let Math scare you! No matter how short it is. ;)

5(2x-7)=33-3(6x+4) 10x-35=33-18x-12 10x-35=21-18x 10x+18x=21+35 28x=56 x=56/28 x=2
