3a + 1.2b = 14.4 --- (1)
a - 0.5b = 3 --- (2)

From (2), we have:

a = 0.5b + 3 --- (3)

Substituting (3) into (1), we will get:

3(0.5b + 3) + 1.2b = 14.4
1.5b + 9 + 1.2b = 14.4
1.5b + 1.2b = 14.4 - 9
2.7b = 5.4
b = 5.4 / 2.7
b = 2

Substituting b = 2 into (3), we will get:

a = 0.5(2) + 3
a = 1 + 3
a = 4

Hence, we have a = 4 and b = 2
