the mayors drive 50 mph and 55 mph. How far apart are the cities if they drive 3 hours?

solve this word problem

Let as assumed that the first half of the way Mayor's speed is 50 mph and the other half will be 55 mph

speed (s)  = (50 + 55)/2
Speed (s) = 52.5 mph (mile per hour)

If he had to travel for 3 hours then the distance D  traveled will be s x 3
D = s x 3
D = 52.5 x 3

D = 157.5 miles ◄ Ans
