How to solve 4x+3y=16 2x-3y=8

Add them

   4x + 3y = 16
+(2x -  3y =  8)
----------------------
   6x        = 24
x = 4

Substitute into one of the equations

2(4) - 3y = 8
8 - 3y = 8
-3y = 8 - 8
-3y = 0
y = 0 / -3
y = 0

Substitute both values into the other eqation

4(4) + 3(0) = 16
16 + 0 = 16
