Subtract 2nd equation from 1st: 2y=-10, so y=-5; substitute this value into either equation: 2y+z=-19 becomes -10+z=-19, so z=-19+10=-9.

Check answer: 4y+z=-20-9=-29; 2y+z=-10-9=-19.
