why when a whole number is multiplied by a fraction the answer is smaller?

this is really hard to explain to me because i need to draw a picture and explain.

This is because, all whole numbers have their denominators as 1 so if we multiply their numerators and deominators, it will give us another fraction.The fraction can be broken down into its simplest form or it can be changed to decimal, which will obviously give you a smaller number.

1=55 is the same as 2 = 55

5                                     5      1

=2*55=110 =22

    5*1  =5
