we have stored coal in a new shade , its measures as Length=260 feet, and Width= 87 feet. Once we reclaimed that coal , we lost 1950 tons of coal as carpet loss, i want to know how much coal lost/square foot in that new shade. Please send me the details calculations of my question. best rgds.

The area is 260×87=22620ft2.

Coal lost/ft2=1950/22620=5/58=0.0862 tons/ft2 approx, that is, 5600/9lbs/ft2 (about 193lbs/ft2) carpet loss of coal (deterioration for the given surface area due to lack of adequate storage).
