y=3x , 5x+2y=44

substitute the value of y from the first equation into the second and solve for x

5x+2(3x)=44

5x+6x=44

11x=44

x=44/11=4

now substitute the found value of x back into either original equation and solve for y

y=3x

y=3(4)=12
