?????????????? "larjer" ??????????? the werd be BIGGER... 1. y=2x+1... 2. x+y=82, or y=82-x ... 2x+1=82-x... 3x=82-1=81... x=81/3... x=27

1. x+y=82

2. y=2x+1

Substitute 2. into the x+y=82, as 2. is the y part of that.

So......   x+(2x+1)=82        therefore x=27

Now we use 2. to then input the answer.

So.....     y=2(27)+1

y=55

So the answer would be........     x=27 (smaller number) and y=55 (larger number)
