3 - 5x          10

-------  =  ---------   cross multiply

x + 2        x + 2

(x+2) 3 - 5x = (x+2) 10  divide (x+2) on both sides

3 - 5x = 10

-5x = 10 - 3

-5x = 7

x = -7/5 or -1 2/5
