First draw a picture, notice that the length and width are x and the height is 4.

V = h*l*w

32 = 4x^2

8 = x^2

x = +or- 2sqrt(2)  a length cannot be negative,

L = x + (2*4)

L = 2 sqrt(2) + 8

L = 10.83 in .
