4y+3(2y+4)=11

I'm presuming you want to find the value of y?

So, first you can multiply out the brackets:

4y+3(2y+4)=11

4y + 3x2y + 3x4 = 11

4y + 6y + 12 = 11

10y + 12 = 11

So now you can subtract 12 from both sides of the equation:

10y +12 - 12 = 11 - 12

10y = -1

And now divide both sides by 10 to find the value of y:

10y/10 = -1/10

y = -1/10
