a set of 144 pencils will be on sale at 30% off for a 24-hr period. the set is purchased for $176.40. what was the original price?

The set is purchesed at $176.40 @ 30% off

So, 176,40 is 70% of original price, OP.

i.e. 176.40 = OP * 70%

or, 176.40 = OP * 0.70

OP = 176.40 / 0.7

OP = $252
