distance=speed times time

So speed = distance divided by time=2⅝/3.5 miles per minute. Multiply by 60 to get miles per hour.

21/8÷3.5=21/8÷3½=21/8÷(7/2)=21/8×2/7=¾ miles per minute=¾×60=45 miles per hour.
