(x+a)^2-b^2=0

solve the quadratic equation by factoring.

I have no idea how to factor this problem for some reason. I have done 50 questions in this section of my book but seem to be stuck on this one. thank you

(x+a)^2-b^2=0

use the formula a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)

 

(x+a+b)(x+a-b)=0

x+a+b=0

x=-(a+b)

or

x+a-b=0

x=b-a
