i am factoring trinomials.

the equation is x^2-9x+12

What are 2 factors that multiply to +12 , but add to be -9.

I dont think there are any.

xy=12 & x+y=-9

thus, y=-x -9

xy...x*(-x-9)=12

-x^2 -9x -12=0

or x^2+9x +12=0

x=-1.62771868 & -7.37228132
