You have to remove the #2 and add 7+12+14+17 and that equals 50 and 50 divided by the numbers that you added by (4 numbers in all you added by) and divide it by 4 and you should get 12.5 and the median of 7,12,14,17 is 12.5.

If the mean,median and mode are all equal for the following set, what is the value of x? {3,4,5,8,x}
by
  1. 7, 12, 14, 17: mean=50/4=12.5; median=(12+14)/2=13.
  2. 2, 12, 14, 17: mean=45/4=11.25; median=13.
  3. 2, 7, 14, 17: mean=40/4=10; median=(7+14)/2=10.5.
  4. 2, 7, 12, 17: mean=38/4=9.5; median=(7+12)/2=9.5.
  5. 2, 7, 12, 14: mean=35/4=8.75; median=9.5.

You need to remove 14 for mean=median=9.5.
