x/3=12/18; (6×x)/6×3)=6x/18=12/18, so 6x=12, x=12/6=2.

CHECK: 2/3=12/18.

Another way:

12/18=2/3 because 6 divides into numerator and denominator leaving 2/3.

So x/3=2/3 making x=2.
