A: the permeter of a rectangle (the area around) is length + length + width + width or simply 2L+2W = P

b: since you already know the width is 2 times the length the w=2L substitute that into the equation

2L+2(2L) = 72

2L+4L = 72

combin like terms

6L = 72

c: divide each side by 6

L = 12

d: length is 12 width is 24

2(12) + 2(24) = 72 (it checks out)

greatest possible value for length is 12
