Let the numer  = x

one-half of the number = x/2

2/3rds of the number = 2x/3

one- half of the number = 2/3rds of the number -7    { Given }

x/2 =(2x/3)  -7

x/2 = (2x -7 *3 )3         {LCM = 3}

3x = 2(2x -21)      { doing cross multiplication }

3x = 4x - 42

3x  - 4x = -42

-x = -42

x = 42
