5v + 2w = 36

8v - 3w = -54

multiply the top equation by 3 on both sides and the bottom equation by 2 on both sides

15v + 6w = 108

16v - 6w = -108

Add the equations straight down

31v + 0w = 0

31v = 0

v = 0

5v + 2w = 36

5(0) + 2w = 36

2w = 36

w = 18

Answer:  v = 0, w = 18
