rim length=34, so half rim=17

leng=wide+7

half rim=length+wide

wide+(wide+7)=17

2*wide=10

wide=5

leng=12

The perimeter of a rectangle is 34ft. the lenght is 9ft longer than the width. Find the dimension. writhe a system of linear equations and solve the resulting system. Let x be the length and y be the width.

Since, finding the Perimeter of a Rectangle = 2L + 2W,

and the Perimeter of 34 ft is given, then 34 ft  - 2(7 ft) = 34 ft - 14 ft = 20 ft divided by 4 sides = 5 ft. which is the width.

To get the measure of the length, 5 ft + 7 ft (longer than the width) = 12 ft
