Median from C bisects AB and is the average of B and A=((2-4)/2,(2-4)/2)=(-1,-1). The length of the median is found using Pythagoras. Take the difference of y coords of the median and C:  -1-(-8)=7; and difference of x coords: 5-(-1)=6. The hypotenuse is the length of the median=sqrt(7^2+6^2)=sqrt(49+36)=sqrt(85)=9.2195.
