30 secs after the kite passes the boy overhead , covers horizontally a distance of 30 x 2 = 60 feet

(since the speed is 2 feet/sec for 30 secs it covers a distance of 60 feet)

we know the altitude of this fligth, it is 30 feet so the slope of the string will be 30/60 = 1/2
